INOX is not automatically a better choice for every machine. The right decision depends on the medium, the environment, the gaskets and the required lifespan.
The brass and stainless steel are both common materials for pneumatic coupling housings. Penetrations are often an economical solution for conventional dry compressed air systems. Stainless connections shall be used where corrosion resistance, washing machines or specified industrial media are important. However, INOX does not indicate whether it is, for example, version 304 or 316, nor what seal is fitted.
For most conventional compressed air systems in a dry workshop, an appropriate brass quick coupling can allow a good compromise between price and technical requirements. Never assume compatibility with aggressive cleaners without specification.
In the case of often wet machines, exposed surfaces and where increased corrosion resistance is required, an appropriate stainless connection may make sense. The decision must be based on the chemical composition of the environment, the actual alloy and the compliance of the gaskets.
There are nickel brass couplings on the market and various stainless steel designs. When testing, compare products with the same outer diameter of the tube, thread type, transition section and same conditions; otherwise the material is not the only variable.
In the Black Council we have several dimensions of INOX pneumatic connectors. If you send us environmental conditions, pipe diameter and thread type, we help you choose a more technically appropriate solution. For demanding media we will first check the demonstrable composition of materials.
