NTC 10 or 100 kiloohms: how do I choose the right temperature sensor?

10 k? and 100 k? are the nominal resistances applicable at that reference temperature. The sensors are not directly interchangeable just because they both measure the temperature.

What to check out

  • Check the required resistance and reference temperature in the controller or original sensor documentation.
  • Compare More R/T-curve, tolerance, temperature range and probe structure.
  • In 3D-tiskalniku the sensor table in the firmware must also correspond. Missetting may lead to dangerously incorrect display.
  • With your own meter, adjust the divider and recalculate the actual sensor and check the reading at multiple temperatures.

A Practical Example

INOX 10-k? the probe may be a candidate for its own low temperature meter, appropriate 100-k? and the termist for a certain hotend. The choice is always confirmed by the controller and documentation, not just by use.

Common error

The word "universal" in the commercial title does not remove the requirement for comparison of characteristics. Code 3950 also needs an explanation for which temperature interval is applicable.
