Sparrow 0,25, 0,4, 0,6 either 1,0 mm: which is suitable for mine 3D-tisk?

A smaller nozzle helps with fine moves, larger on the wider walls and greater flow. The diameter of the nozzle itself determines neither the accuracy nor the speed of the entire printer.

What to check out

  • For very small details consider 0,25 mm; 0,4 mm is often a practical starting point.
  • At 0,6 or 1,0 mm, check that the hotend is capable of the required volume flow and that the model allows for wider moves.
  • In the cutter, set the actual nozzle diameter and the corresponding stroke width and layer height.
  • Before buying, check the mechanical performance of the nozzle, filament diameter and recommendations for any fillers.

A Practical Example

A large simple box can be made with a smaller perimeter and small inscriptions can be tested with a smaller nozzle and appropriate font geometry.

Common error

Exchange 0,4-mm nozzles for 1,0-mm no profile change is not a proper upgrade. Larger opening does not increase heater power or melting capacity.
