Honey, INOX or tempered nozzle: what to choose for a plain and filled filament?

The medina is a common choice for unfilled filaments. For abrasive fillings you need the material of the nozzle, which is specifically suitable for them; stainless steel and tempered steel are not the same.

What to check out

  • Check that the filament contains glass, carbon or other abrasive fillings.
  • Select a nozzle with specifically stated resistance for such material and follow the minimum aperture diameter as recommended by the filament.
  • After changing the material of the nozzle, check the temperature profile and the quality of the extrusion.
  • If wear is suspected, compare the quality of the moves and the geometry of the opening with the unspent nozzle of the same performance.

A Practical Example

INOX and SS304 are not already shown to be equivalent to the cabled nozzle. Select according to the actual specification.

Common error

The increased temperature resistance of the metal does not provide the same wear resistance. Also, a nozzle suitable for abrasive filament does not yet confirm the suitability of the entire feeding system.
