BZ-20 for industrial automation
The drive is working, the control is sending orders, and the capsule is not in the right place on time. The procedure may persist. Such details determine the usefulness of automation. So when choosing the source of the vacuum, I first check what the machine has to do, how long and under what conditions. Then I pick the equipment!
We offer vacuum pump at the Black Council BZ-20 for use in capsules and other industrial automation projects. It is intended to be used as an external source of vacuum. Its suitability for a particular machine is checked according to the requirements of the process, as the correct choice is not just a model label.
If you produce automated devices, upgrade existing production or maintain a capsule machine, the criteria below help you prepare useful demand and compare offers. The objective is clear: to choose a solution that matches your process and to anticipate the necessary protection and connecting elements in time.
Vacuum for capsule machines
It is important for the capsule to reach the correct position in time for the capsule to be capsules. The vacuum in a properly designed machine helps to position or separate parts of the empty capsule. The pump provides a source of vacuum, and its use at a particular workplace is determined by the execution of the machine, valves and the time sequence of motions.

Characteristics of the BZ-20 pump
To make a good decision, you need a clear range of offers. This implementation confirms the following information:
- Model: BZ-20.
- Delivery without pre-filter. The filter is not included in that execution.
- Purpose: an external source of vacuum for industrial automation and capsule machines.
- Pre-order verification: required flow, working vacuum, power supply and connection dimension.
- Technical details of the concrete implementation: we confirm them before delivery.
From the BZ-20 mark itself, I do not conclude on the flow, power, supply voltage or available vacuum. We need to link these data to a specific execution. Flow, working vacuum and connections
The flow indicates how much air a vacuum source can discharge under certain conditions. The working vacuum describes the required pressure condition during the procedure. We need both to choose. The information about the maximum available vacuum alone does not tell how quickly the system will reach the required state of your work cycle.
On demand, I therefore recommend that you write the data together with the units and measurement conditions. For flow, indicate whether the data is expressed in litres per minute or cubic metres per hour. In the case of vacuum, attach the manufacturer’s request and explain whether it is absolute pressure or pressure relative to the surrounding area. The same figures, without such an explanation, may constitute different requirements.
Time is also important. How long does the vacuum assembly have for each operation? How many jobs work simultaneously? Does the need occur continuously or only during the cycle? These issues fall under the choice of equipment, not just to fix problems after installation.
The manufacturer of the vacuum equipment Schmalz in his selection instructions points out the required vacuum, volume to be emptied, cycle time and workpiece properties. These are general planning criteria, not confirmed capacity BZ-20.

Prefilter and pump protection
BZ-20 is supplied without pre-filter in that offer. If dust or residue of the product can enter the intake duct, appropriate protection should be provided for the pump. Do not miss this step when preparing the connection!
When choosing protection, describe first what can come into the suction duct. Is it dry powder, capsule fragments or other process residue? The information is important for the selection of adequate filtration or additional separation. The filter is selected according to the actual pollution and requirements of the vacuum system, not only whether it can be attached to the connector.
In vacuum filters, Schmalz explains their role in protecting the source of vacuum or valves from contamination. Also for BZ-20, the necessary protection must be determined before use in an application where there is a potential for particulate deposition.
- Predict the location of the protective element between the process and the pump.
- Provide access for inspection and maintenance as instructed by the selected element.
- When offering, separate the pump, filter and other accessories clearly.
- After assembly, check the operation of the entire connection at the intended machine cycle.

Comparison of vacuum solutions
When comparing to a competitive offer, it is useful first to separate the type of solution and the volume of supply. A standalone pump, pneumatic ejector and a assembled vacuum assembly are not equivalent to packages. The advantage of the stand alone offer BZ-20 is the possibility to determine the necessary protection and connections according to the specific application. This may be useful when part of the appropriate equipment already exists on the machine. The advantage of a composite assembly may be wider supply volumes. A comparison of the entire required composition shows which option is more favourable for you. Without validated data, I would not promise that BZ-20 is more powerful or more economical than any alternative.
Practical example of capsules
Illustration example of use, not customer testimony: the small manufacturing company upgrades the capsule machine in which an external vacuum is provided for separating the parts of the empty capsule. Before selecting BZ-20, collects the machine manufacturer's requirements and checks the status of existing connections.
In such a project, I propose the following sequence:
- Definition of task: wrote in which phase of the capsule we need vacuum and how long it is available.
- Verification of requirements: coordinate the required flow, working vacuum, power supply and connection dimension.
- Protection plan: assess the possibility of dust or residues in the product and determine the necessary protection against the pump.
- Overview of links: check the pipes, valves and their connection to the machine's operating cycle.
- Assembly test: after professional connection we check the achievement of process requirements on the actual machine.
The measure of success in this case is whether the set meets the required conditions for the operation at the right time. BZ-20 is only the right choice once we confirm the technical match. The example shows the decision-making process; it does not report on the project carried out or measured results.
Vacuum control and maintenance
When planning automation, I also recommend an answer to a simple question: how will steering recognise that the vacuum conditions for the next step are met? Depending on the design of the machine, a separate measurement or vacuum switch can be envisaged. Such equipment is not mentioned as included in the supply of BZ-20.
Schmalz lists switches and measuring and control elements among vacuum system control components. Their use should be planned with the machine. No specific switching values or BZ-20 times are specified without validated data.
For maintenance, prepare accessible inspection sites, a list of installed elements and instructions for each implementation. Check the operating, service and lubrication requirements in the documentation of the pump supplied. This avoids using instructions that belong to a similar but different model.

Favourable Planning and Savings
Benjamin Franklin wrote about management: Beware of small expenses; a small crack sinks a large ship. It is a free translation of a verified quote from his yearbook for 1758. When buying industrial equipment, the thought reminds us that in addition to the initial price, it makes sense to review the less noticeable costs.
If we want to regulate automation cheaper, we first compare the entire cost of a useful solution. Offers without filter and filter offer have different ranges. Add the necessary pipes, connections, valves, assembly and maintenance. Only then can you judge what is actually beneficial for your machine.
It makes sense to look at the right amount of processing. If the existing elements are relevant, they can be considered in the design after verification. If not, the offer must include the necessary adjustment. Only the lower price of the pump does not yet guarantee a lower cost of operation.
For internal comparison, prepare a simple record: total cost means purchase, necessary accessories, connection, operation and maintenance. Estimate the potential cost of congestion from your own production data. For BZ-20 without measurements and a validated benchmark, we do not specify the percentage of energy savings or guaranteed consumption.
