Pneumatic air flow regulator 90st, male thread 1/8 per tube 4mm, POM and brass combines the angular connection and the possibility to adjust compressed air flow. It is intended for connections where you need a 4 mm diameter pipe, a suitable threaded connector and control of the speed of pneumatic movement. A small component. Very concrete task!

Thread 1/8 and hose 4 mm

For pneumatic connections, each marking shall be considered. Before selecting I check the dimensions of the connection and the data of the device, as the same appearance does not yet guarantee compatibility.

• 90° performance: the tube from the connector exits at the right angle, which facilitates the wiring of the cylinder or construction.
• Men's thread 1/8: intended to be screwed in a compatible internal thread.
• Hose connection 4 mm: for such pneumatic tube connections, the dimension refers to the outer diameter of the pipe.
• POM material and brass: a combination of technical plastic and metal.
• Function: air flow setting to adjust the speed of the corresponding pneumatic drive.

Code 1/8 is the nominal size of the tube thread. The threading standard, such as G, R or NPT, shall be appropriate to the device; only record 1/8 does not specify it. Also before ordering, we check the permitted working pressure, temperature, suitability of pipes and direction of regulation according to the product information.

Set cylinder speed

The adjuster uses the configuration element to change the flow hole to limit air flow. This allows the speed of the cylinder to be adjusted. I separate two tasks: the flow regulator sets the flow and the pressure regulator sets the pressure in the system.

For two-sided cylinders, air damping is often used for calmer movement. Festo explains in the technical documentation that such binding helps to improve movement even when the load changes. The direction of damping and any counter-return function of this product should be checked before installation.

In setting I recommend small modifications and a test at actual load. Watch the entire walk: start, move and end. The target is the speed at which the device reliably completes the task. As a rule, appropriate regulation of both connectors is required for the independent set-up and return of the two-sided cylinder.

POM and brass

POM is a technical plastic commonly used for dimensionally stable mechanical parts. The honeycomb is an established material for processed threaded elements. This combination is useful for compact pneumatic components in which we want to connect plastic and metal parts.

Angular execution also solves the issue of space. You can take the tube to the device and plan its course more easily. Note the minimum permissible hose bending radius and access to the adjustment element. A well accessible setting means less dismantling when the machine is subsequently adjusted.

Regulator or common connection

For comparison, I chose an alternative solution when purchasing: a simple 90° pneumatic corner mount with a male thread 1/8 for a pipe 4 mm without regulation. There's a difference in function. To set the flow directly on this connection, the normal connection needs an additional control element.

Tyre savings

I also take this into account when choosing a regulator. Just reducing speed by choking does not yet guarantee reduced air consumption throughout the walk. The savings may be linked to less resetting, less disruption due to overspeed and easier coordination of the process. And we check the energy impact by measuring.

This version has a man's nominal thread 1/8, a fast connection for a hose with an external diameter of 4 mm, a 90° angle and a combination of POM and brass materials. The price is 3,00 € with VAT. Suppliers of the technical sheet of this series are not yet available. The standard of thread G/R/NPT, gasket material, permissible pressure and temperature, pipe type, flow characteristic and direction of damping must be confirmed before selection. Nor is the grant function, rotation and prescribed mounting torque confirmed. The angle of 90° does not in itself confirm the possibility of body rotation.
